1850 Campbell County Georgia Census (Nancy MADDOX CAMP) 484 6 Camp Nancy 70 F GA October 04 438A 19
Notes for Andrew (Spouse 1)
This is a correction to an error that I have seen repeatedly about Andrew Camp of Jackson Co., Ga., who moved to DeKalb Co., Ga., married Nancy Mattox, then moved to Carroll Co., Ga., in the 1830s. Andrew is shown on the 1840 census of Carroll Co. "The Camp Family Bulletin" no. 10 of August 1929 and numerous compilers of today have stated that Andrew "died in 1853." Not so. He is not shown on the 1850 census of Carroll County or Georgia or any of the United States. His widow Nancy, aged 70, is shown on the 1850 census of adjacent Campbell County, Ga., number 484, living in the County Line community adjacent her son Wesley Camp, 1804-1872, who served as sheriff of old Campbell County (now south Fulton County) in the 1830s and state representative and state senator in the 1830s-40s. ~ Joe Baggett, editor, "Douglas County, Georgia, Genealogy" newsletter, e-mail baggettcj@aol.com.
