A citizen of the town of Ellery and asoldier of the late civil war is the son of John and Abigail(Simmons) Camp and was born in the town of Ellery, New York, May27, 1841. He is the descendant of an old New England Family. HisGrandfather Samuel A. Camp, Jr. was a native of the State ofConnecticut and a son of Samuel A. Camp, Sr. a graduate of YaleUniversity, a clergymen of the Presbyterian church of that date.He was married to Lemira Wilson and had eight children--six sonsand two daughters. Grandfather Jonas Simmons was a native ofRensselaer county New York, near Troy... In March, 1879 WilsonCamp was united in marriage to Mrs Nancy Hallady (nee Wilkins).In 1862 he enlisted in the one Hundred and Forty-secondRegiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers in which he served untildischarged for promotion.
