Notes for Israel (Spouse 1) |
Notes for ISRAEL CAMP: Israel is the only son of Job Camp that was born in Camptown. The following was taken from "History of Camptown, Pennsylvania 1792 - 1975" published by the Camptown Civic Club: "Israel Camp, who was the only son of Job born after the family arrived in Camptown, married Mercy Wells, daughter of Guy Wells, another settler. She was a direct descendant of the famous John Alden and Priscilla Mullins, who came over in the Mayflower. Israel Camp owned all the land on both sides of what is now Route 409. The original house is now on the property of Beebe and Sons, Inc. of Spring Hill, and is a Camptown, being over 170 years old. The old hand-hewn beams are still in place. It is certain that this house either belonged to Job Camp or was built by him for his son." In the 1850 Census for Wyalusing Township, Bradford Co.,PA, the following is listed: Israel M 56 yrsFarmer Born in PA Mercy F 53 yrs Wife Born in PA Lorin W M 19 yrs Farmer Born in PA Byron O M 13 yrs Born in PA Newell JM 15 yrs Born in PA Israel is buried in Merryall Cemetery near Camptown.
