Notes for Clark C. (Spouse 1)
Notes for CLARK C. CAMP: Clark Camp was a Baptist Minister (also found in mortality schedule as minister); however, the 1870 census lists his occupation as millwright. Seven of Clark's sons were said to have served in the Civil War with the Union Army, although records have only been found for five of them. Above information came from Margorie Thompson (jmtsparks@aol.com) Judy Dombrowski states the following:"Clark C. Camp's death date & location were given to me by my Mom from the family bible." "My Mom provided a list of 9 names of children of Clark: Serepta, Asa, Wesley, Myron, Luke, John,Dennison, Clark, & Isaac; she assumed those names were listed in birth order. Marjorie only had the name John & from his obituary the possibility of a brother named Clark; from Mom's research & notes, I had the names Wesley, Luke, Myron,Dennison, Clark & Isaac. As Marjorie & I researched on-line military records, census, etc., we established tentative birth years for all except Asa; if we arbitrarily used 'Abt. 1829'for Asa's birth year, they all lined up as Mom had listed."Clark was found in the 1830 PA Census in Luzerne Co. in Windham. In 1840 he is listed as in Bradford Co., Herrick. No listing for1850 in PA. An on-line transcription of the 1870 census forWauculla Twp. Sedgwick Co. KS which listed Clark Camp - age 75- & Isaac Camp - age 27. David R. Allen - age 52 - was the only other person listed in that household; his connection to the Camps is unknown. Clark Camp was buried in Section A, lot 168, grave 1in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Eagle Twp., Sedgwick Co.,KS Notes for MEDEA STEVENS: There is a Medea Camp buried in Overpeck Cemetery, Herrick Township, Bradford Co., PA. This information from Judy Dombrowski. Children of CLARK CAMP and MEDEA STEVENS are: 242. i. SAREPTA11 CAMP, b. October 16,1827, Herrick, Bradfield Co., PA; d. April 10, 1894. 243. ii.ASA S. CAMP, b. April 05, 1829, Herrick, Bradford Co., PA; d.1902, Placerville, El Dorato CO., CA. iii. WESLEY CAMP5, b.June 10, 1831, PA5; d. 1903, KS. Clark and his son Asa S. Campare thought to have travelled west from PA to El Dorado Co., CA.in time to be counted on the 1850 Census. They of course would have been in the search for gold. Possibly also is that they"dropped" off all the younger brothers here and there. The family really split up in all directions after their Mother Medea died in 1842. Clark is shown on the 1850 Census in ElDorado Co., CA. Asa S. is shown on the 1850-1870 Census in ElDorado Co., CA. the South Fork of the American River.
