NOTE:THE BELOW CAMP FAMILY REFERENCE SEEMS TO BE WRONG BECAUSE IN THIS RICHARDS WILL HE DOES NOT MENTION HAVING A DAUGHTER "MARY" HOWEVER IN THE RICHARD WHO DIED IN 1584 HE DOES HAVE A DAUGHTER "MARY" WHO I BELIEVE MARRIED THOMAS CURTIS, BEACUSE OF THE INDICATIONS IN THE OTHER WILLS. Nazeing Parish First Record Book, 1558, excerpts from this original record. book of births, deaths and marriages beginning with 1558 and copied while the author was in the living room of the Vicar, Rev. Harold Hawkins, while she was visiting in County Essex, England, in 1958 • This "book says that a Richard Camp is in the Court Rolls as early as June 1271 with mary Camp references all through the first record book, to 1650 at least. Diary of Maybelle Gordon Carman during the trips in England to Parish Churches, Cemeteries and to visit Rectors, Vicars and some of their Parishioners, both in 1958 and 1963. Snapshots and an account of Camp's Manor told to the author by Mrs. Harold Hawkins of Nazeing Parish who took her to see it and two Curtis Farms. Camp's Manor is next to the oldest house in the Parish and wonderfully well preserved and kept up. The two Curtis houses are only about two hundred years old though the lands belonged to Curtises much longer. These places are still called by the names of their early owners. Richard Camp according to the Parish records was the owner during his lifetime of Camp's Manor. It is a large spread out rambling house of white brick with black trim and vines and espaliered trees and roses up against the walls. The • 160 original was large but it has had many additions also. The trim grounds with "blooming flowers in September in the sprawling gardens and the neatly mani¬ cured lawns as all of them the countryside over are in England, gave this ancestral home a quaint and warming charm when looked at by one of the many descendants to come from its halls. SEE CURTIS FAMILY. NOTE: I BELIEVE THIS LINE TO BE CORRECT, AND IS COOBORATED BY THE AUTHOR OF THE GENEALOGY OF THE CURTIS FAMILY. THERE WAS TWO RICHARDS WHO DIED WITHIN A YEAR APART, THIS RICHARD OWNED LAND BUT DID NOT SPECIFY HE WAS FROM SNOWES. IN THE NAZEING PARISH RECORDS THIS RICHARDS CHILDREN ARE ALL OF SNOWES WHICH IS REALLY CONFUSING, AND COULD BE THE REASON EVERYONE ASSOCIATES THIS RICHARD WITH THOMAS CAMPE OF SNOWES. THE OTHER RICHARD(WHICH I HAVE LINKED TO THOMAS CAMPE OF SNOWES) SPECIFIED HE WAS OF SNOWES AND ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF THOMAS CAMPE 1560 HE LEFT TO HIS ELDEST SON RICHARD HIS TENEMENT "SNOWES" 21 September 1585 Richard Campe , Nazeing, Yeoman Wife Magdalen Hall Sons Robert, William, Frances & Richard Daughter Elizabeth In the name of God amen the _______day of July In the year of our Lord God 1585 I Richard Camp of Nazing in the county of Essix syck Of body but whole mynd & perfect memory God have the praise do make & ordain this My last will & testament in mannor & Form following First I remend my soule into the hands of Allmighte God belivimg to be saved by the grace of Jesus Chryste & my body I yeald to the earth in hope of the resurrection with the rest in the Last day concerning my worldly goods I give & despose them as followeth I give and bequeth to my sonnes Robert William Frances & Richard to every one of them ten pounds of lawfull mony of England with sum of forte pounds shalbe payed oute of my lande to my sayd sonnes their several portions within two years next after my wyves deceasse also I give & bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Camp five pounds of lawfull English money to be paid to her in like mannor as her brothers portions afore sayd < if any of my children die before the payment of their legals then my will & mind is the dead be equally among the remaining alive > Item my will & mind is that if my wife die before my youngest son com to his age of 21 yeares or if my said son being of age at his mothers deceeasse refuse to pawe the legasres in __________ as is before expressed then by _________ of this my will I give full power and autorythe to Mr Thomas Hall of Nazeing my Wyfes uncle & Mr Robert Hall of Claveringhambury my Wyfes brother and to either of them Them to sell my house & land to the uttermost value & with yet of the ------------ ------------------the so-- to pay my children their severall legas_es as is before expressed & the residue to remain to my said youngest son all the rest of my goods I wholly give & bequeath to Magdalen my wife whome I make my sole executixe and concerning my debts I apoynt Mr Thomas Hall my wyfes uncle aforesaid to pay the same so far as fourteen pounds & a __blie being yte of the price of a crofte called Prake Field lately sould unto him will extend Wytnesses to this my last Will Mr William Hall Andrew Rich___ Geordy Wren & me John Hopkyns Sources: 1.
