On this 9th day of 1880before me Chas Jlgurfritz (sp) clerk Dist Court of Iowa withinand for Butler came I.W Camp who being dutily sworn deposes &says. 1st that an affidavit of a cousin's served officers of mycompany cannot be obtained for the following reasons to witthat for more than a year past I have made inquiries from everysource within my reach. I have corresponded with everyone ofwhom I thought this address could possibly be obtained butwithout success and their whereabouts are to this defendantcertainly unknown. 2nd at the time of being wounded I went tohospital and had my wound dressed of the surgeon of the 9th ILInfantry, who I am informed is dead. I was afterwards attendedby a citizen surgeon attached to my regiment whose name wasnever known to this defendant. Our regular surgeon being absent,after being in hospital 2 days I returned to my regiment anddressed my own wound and received no further surgical treatmentthereafter. Parker M.D. on 29 April, 1902 attesting tohis being the family Physician during the years 1881-1890.Isaac had anemia, subject to frequent attacks of diahrrhea,said attacks would confine him to bed from 3 to 5 days. Alsoaflicted with Hemorhoids and chronic rheumatism. Contributed tofrom exposure while in the service of the U.S. Sidney B.Pease age 42 1 Apr, 1882 resident of Joliet, Co., of Will, IL.attested to that he was a sergeant in Company "B" that he waspersonally acquainted with Isaac W. Camp who was a private andthat on or about 18 May, 1862 that Isaac did receive a gunshotwound of the left thumb which resulted with the amputation ofsaid thumb at the first joint. wound was received while in thedischarge of duty. Clark Camp age 61 on 23 May 1901 attestingthat he was personally acquainted and seved with him in saidorganization and that in Corinth, Miss., May or June 1862,Isaac contracted chronic diahrrhea and piles. Also in thewinter of 1861-62 at Paducah, KY. contracted a cold and asthma.March 1863 at Corinth he had lung fever and lungs became weak.I have known him as a neighbor since discharge during 1872 to1873 and the year 1875 and 1900 and 1901. L.C. Crawford no agegiven on 16 May 1901 attested to knowing Isaac since the year1865. In Ashton, IL. from 1865 to 1868. Was his neighbor.1868-1874 at Sedgwick City, KS. At Shell Rock, IA. from1874-1875. He suffered from piles, constipation and weak lungs.Attacks of asthmatic nature each year. Isaac W. Camp age 59 on7 May 1902 regarding his physicians names as Dr. W. W. Parkerof Chicago, IL. and Dr. J.A. Hobson of Parkersburg, IA. Otherswho treated me are now dead so no affidavit can be obtained.Affidavit on 15 May 1900, M.W. Warner age 34 of Parksburg, Co.,of Butler, IA. Personal knowledge of Isaac W. Camp lived onadjoining lot for the past five years. For nearly two years hehas been unable to do any manual labor whatever and is aconstant sufferer from asthma, weak heart, rheumatism isfrequently confined to his house for days at a time. Affidaviton 14 May 1900, Thos. A. Hobson M.D. age 36 Parkersburg, Co., ofButler, IA. I have treated said Isaac W. Camp for several yearsas family physician. That for nearly two years he has beenunable to do any work and much of the time confined to his roomon account of Heart disease, Bronchitis very severe & bronchialasthma almost to suffocation for days at times. Weak irregularto a very dangerous extent. Chronic diarrhea & Hemorrhoidsbeing quite severe at other times. Rheumatism of which he is aconstant sufferer. I consider it unsafe for him to attempt anykind of even modest work. Affidavit on 27 Jan 1899, R.G.Nettleton age 41 Parkersburg, Co., of Butler, IA. That he hasknown the said Isaac W. Camp for 35 years and during thisacquaintance can truthfully say that the disabilities Chronicdiarrhea, heart trouble, piles, disease rectum, rheumatism, andgeneral debility and asthma which are mentioned in said claimfor pension were not caused by any vicious habits. Will alsostate that Isaac W. Camp has always been a person of verytemperate habits. Affidavit on 27 Jan 1899, S. Williams age 74Parkersburg, Co., Of Butler, IA. That he has known the saidIsaac W. Camp for 23 years and during this acquaintance cantruthfully say that the disabilities, Chronic diarrhea, hearttrouble, piles, disease rectum, rheumatism and general debility,and asthma which are mentioned in said claim for pension, werenot caused by any vicious habits. Will also state that Isaac W.Camp has always been a person of very temperate habits.Declaration for an Invalid Pension State of Iowa County ofButler on the 22 Apr, 1892, Under Certificate # 207854. IsaacW. Camp states he is wholly unable to earn a support by reasonof heart trouble, general debility, Rheumatism, Constipation,injuries to my hip while in the army. Injury to my shouldergives me constant pain at times very severe. Agrees to pay hisattorney a fee of $10.00 when the pension is allowed. Attestedby Henry Weeks and R.G. Nettleton.
