Notes for Thomas CAMPE


I Thomas Campe of Snowes, yeoman in the parish of Nasinge in the countye of Essex being of whole mynd & perfect memory make & ordeyne this my last will & testament in maner & forme following (that is to say)

First I bequeath my soule into the hand of Almyghty god and my body to be buryed in Christian buriall.

Item: I give & bequeath unto my daughter Rose thirty Pounde of good & Lawfull mony of England to be paid unto her at her age of one & twenty yeers. And if Rose dy befour she come to that age of one & Twenty years my will is that my sonne Thomas shall have that Thirty Pounds paid to him at his age of one & Twenty years. And if Thomas dy before he come to that age also then I will that Thirty pounds thus to be

divided: Ten pounds to remayne to my wyfe, Ten pounds to Richard my / & Ten pounds to my sonne George when they shall come to one & twenty years of age.

Item: my will is that if my wife be now with child the child wherewith she goeth shall have Twenty pounds of Lawfull mony paid unto it at the age of one & Twenty years by my sonne George out of my lands called Lennards which I surrender to his use upon that condition.

Item: my will is that if my wife be not with child or her child live not till it be one &Twenty years of age that then George shall pay Ten pounds of Lawfull mony to Thomas my sonne to be paid unto him at his age of one & Twenty years out of my land called Lennards at condition I have also expressed in my surrender.

Item: I give & bequeath unto Robart my brother five pounds to be payd unto him at the age of one & Twenty years or yfhe dy befoor my will is that it remayne in my wifes hands,

Item: I bequeath to my mother Elizabeth Campe the two cowe leases in Nasyng marsh to enjoy ? during her lyfe. After her death my will is that my sonne George enjoy ? those two leases.

Item: I bequeath unto my sonne George four other Leases in Nasing marsh.

Item: I give & bequeath fortye shilings to be distributed unto the poore people of Nasinge parish at my buriall.

Item: I make &ordayne my wife Elizabeth Campe my sole executrix of this my last will & testament & I request my brother Thomas Curtis & my coosen George Campe to be overseers of this my last will & testament whereupon I bequeath to eyther of them 4/-.



It is possible that this Thomas is the one named in the will of Thomas Campe dated 1560 in which he was called Thomas Campe the younger son of the Thomas Campe deceased.
